What's Your happiness?

What's Your happiness?
Todays journal is written by one more of our extraordinary teachers clearly "called" to help transform lives!

   "If someone asks me what your happiness is when you are at GIBTK? I will say that: "I am very happy because my career mission matches the mission of the organization - transforming lives. My job is to transform children's lives by sharing with them about life skills which most Vietnamese children are truly in need of.

   "When we were informed that the project to equip Life skills and Emotional Health was approved to be shared at public schools in the countryside, my team and I could not hide our joys. We hugged each other and then I burst into tears because finally we got the project after a long time waiting and making huge efforts.

   We started this project by going to public schools to share knowledge on Emotional Health and Life Skills, which are not common subjects in Vietnamese Education Curriculum. Fortunately, the teachers at the schools welcomed us warmly. They hope that we will bring new and necessary knowledge for their students. Some principals also suggest that we can give them some books relating to our program, or they expect their teachers to be able to attend that class with their dear students.

   I come to the students with the desire to bring and equip them with more skills to improve themselves, so that they are well-prepared for the paths ahead and are stronger and more confident in order to overcome their difficulties currently as well as in the future. In particular, my greatest dream is to bring what Iam equipped with to those who need it. Then they would multiply what they have learned to more children that are not able to reach these classes.

    I still remembered clearly the first time I met the students, they hardly knew what life skills were. The first lesson sharing about Dreams and Goal Settings helped them realize they are able to dream what they want to be in the future, not following all that others want them to be. There were many students who dare to talk about their dream for the first time without any fear that others will laugh at and criticize them. Moreover, they gradually learned how to set goals for learning, for relationships, for their whole life later. I think the first thing for them to live meaningfully is to have dreams and goals for their lives.

    After that first lesson, they ran up to the platform and stood around me. It made me feel extremely close. They asked me: "When will you come back? Which topic will we study the next day? Is it interesting and fun like today?" The children were a bit sad because I just come to them once a month. They gave me tremendous motivation to travel the long way to them. I have promised that the following lessons will be more and more interesting.

   I have remembered the image that students from other classes in the school were standing surrounding the window and door of the classroom with curiosity and excitement because they also wanted to learn what I was sharing. With their eagerness to study, I couldn't stop my sharing to inspire them. I could speak louder and I could stay longer even though the time was finished. For any teacher, it is a joy in the profession and it is the reason why I love the job that I am doing.

With Love;
Suong
