So Happy Part 3

So Happy Part 3
Hello all! I pray and hope your all safe. I and my family are all great! The team in  Vietnam has now gone back to work in the offices. Kids in our homes are still being taught online and our teachers are working with them. From what I understand the schools will be open on May 4th. Vietnam seems to be getting past this covid 19 crisis. So PROUD of our gibtk team!

I'm extremely proud of the gibtk team. Even working from homes they continued to learn and transform others lives! Today I have a note from who I lovingly call the "coffee ladies daughter." She's better known as Huong! Reading her note honestly am blown away how our team is making such an impact on kids lives! Hids that were destined for being lost and no hope! Theres lives being changed and THANK YOU for being part of it!
As always feel free if led to write a note of encouragement and I will forward it to her.

"It is nice to be back to share with you the third part of my life story. In part 2, I shared about after graduating, I will work for GIBTK's. Yes, I have now worked for GIBTK's for more than 10 months. I feel extremely fortunate and happy to be given the opportunity by GIBTK and to do the job I love. I am now Carmela's House Manager, the home for boys under 18. After more than 10 months I have learned a lot of experience from the staff of the organization. This is the best working environment I could know. I always receive love and support from people. Besides the culture, the environment here helps me to change a lot and constantly develop myself every day.

I will share  my work and you will know why I love this job and want to stick with them a long time. I had a hard time taking this position. Sometimes I cried when I couldn't connect with a child. But I don't give up, because my mission is to change the young, help them find themselves and have a happy life. I spent a lot of time with each child, reading books, learning about the psychology of all stages of children and having great GIBTK support.

Huong who is my leader is very special and above all taught me to come to them with all my love.  I treat the students like my younger siblings. I am willing to come to them when they need me, listen to their stories and share my stories. Thanks to that, I have understood them and have much incentive to help them develop in the best and healthiest way. I think you will be happy to know how they have changed and will be surprised to know how good our relationship with them is, as we are a family.
Every small change, each of their smiles is the motivation for me to constantly try. They began to share with me their thoughts, feelings about everything, and their private things which made me excited because they had faith in me. Not only do I care for them and love them, but they also show love for me, care for me, and encourage me when I am sad or sick.  They make a gift card for me on special days. Every time I come to them, they share with me the sadness, the joy, the things that happen to them, or the cakes and candies they have. I feel really warm, happy and love them more because we are a real family.

It's troubling because the Corona epidemic is spreading around the world. We also face many dangers and worries about children's safety. We have organized epidemic sharing sessions to help children wash their hands properly and wear masks to prevent disease. Vietnam has carried out social isolation for 3 consecutive weeks.  We have bought food reserves, hand washing water and masks for them.

Also, the community organizations support automatic hand washers and donating masks for the children. They receive a lot of love and attention from the community. This is a time of worry and danger, so everyone is at home and is restricted from going out. However, this is a very precious and wonderful time for me. I have been with the children for the past three weeks. I have had a lot of experience during this time. All my children are at home and study online.

I have been here to support them on this, so their studies are still going smoothly. Outside of school time, I played basketball and badminton with the children. Every weekend we will learn to make cakes, or cook food that children like. They will do it together by the guidance of a chef who was formerly a member of Hal's Home. And every Saturday night I will join them to play the Werewolf game. They like this game very much and I always look forward to Saturday to play this game together.

They are really happy, and at such times learn to spend a lot of time together, chatting and rarely using phones or playing online games. I had a lot of time to talk, play and share with them. I feel happy to see them always healthy and happy. I am truly grateful that I have been able to spend time with them and understand them more thanks to this time.

I will tell you the story of a child's change in Carmela's. When I started at Carmela's, Hiep was a quiet boy who sometimes ran away from home to play games.  This year he is in 9th grade and will have a 10th-grade entrance exam. Before he always thought: "I don't so, I can never do it, I cannot go to good schools, I can only go to a place for the weak. "

I have been thinking very much. How does Hiep realize his worth? How does he change the way he views himself? I always believed that he would be a very successful person. I spent a lot of time with Hiep and he started to share more about himself, about his hobbies and I found out that he is passionate and plays basketball very well. I told him stories about people with disabilities but they still succeeded. You will be very excited to hear that he came to me: I will try my best to pass the upcoming entrance exams. I am really happy. I am even happier when he makes every effort after saying that to me.

Now he is very obedient in both attitude, and study. No more electronic gaming trips, no more reminders of getting up late or taking care of hygiene. He has changed a lot and was very commendable. Hiep is also a motivator for me, helping me love this job and constantly learning. There are many changing stories about children at home. If you want to know more about them please email our GIBTK's team.
