Not always good news.... 5-20-14

Sometimes things don't go like we hope. I was in a conversation recently and a local mentioned that something was not written into a report because it was negative....

Srey Neang, Missing. For now...

I hope that I do not refrain from always being completely honest in person and yes even in this blog! We have not gotten any good news from Poipet. Srey Neang, the girl, who was in Thailand, word is that she will not return to us.

Meeting the mayors granddaughter living at Marlene's

We spoke with the village mayor yesterday and she told us that she did not speak to Pisey's parents because there was violent arguing when the husband returned. But promised to try again in the coming days.

Is it over? NO! Honestly I am not sure what are next steps or even have a plan of action other then to pray. Stand and believe, God.

I was tempted to ask you to continue to pray for these to young ladies but was hit with reality of what is happening all around us. The travesties around the world and especially the injustices carried out against the children of this world.

Yes let us pray, for the gibtk kids but lets not stop there lets pray for justice!

On the other hand Mala returned home to the joy of all the other girls in Marlene and Vera's homes. When I saw her there she leaned to me and said, "I am very happy, thank you!"

I want to pass that on to all of you. And of course to my Lord and Savior. Without this thing called gibtk, this would have not happened.

We celebrated Mala's return with an all you can eat pizza and chicken party! Fun, laughter and full bellies!

Bruce and I both received hand written notes from the girls. One after another in their broken English thanking us for a safe place to live, for their education, food, hope and the love they felt. And many told of having Christ in their lives.

I am unable to put into words the gratitude these girls have to us. Even typing this on the BUMPY road to Siem Reap to catch our flight back to Phnom Penh I find myself feeling emotional (read wanting to cry) as I think of these girls gratitude. There is no entitlement here. Just gratitude.

Note the 1st line on t-shirt, It says never take for granted what you have today! Grateful people are happy people

I would be remiss if I did not pass on this gratitude first to our Lord. But also to all of you that so freely offer notes of encouragement, your prayers and resources. The blessing is yours. Alone we could not do this.

As I type I heard that in Thailand Martial law was declared. That there are reports of China massing troops on the border to Vietnam. Bouncing down this road in need of repair, hot and humid. Dealing with stuff and culture battles, lost kids, I MUST admit that all is worth it to see a child's life not only be saved but be transformed! YEAH GOD!!!! Thank you to my forgiving savior Jesus

PS. God always ends on a positive!!!

Please pray for the futures of these kids....  Todays was not all good news for sure, but sobering i hope. We had a great meeting today, stay tuned....
