2020 a year to be forgotten... or a year to remember? My first thought is to say forgotten. I'm so ready for it to end, looking forward to the New year. Then I'm reminded of so looking forward to the end of 2019. thinking of all I was going to do, places I was to go etc. Funny one of my lessons in 2020 is that I want to remember is to be grateful for what I have.
I can only guess the struggles so many of you are in. the fears and challenges this pandemic has brought. Can I share today about transformation? For me this year I saw how much I had to transform.
Today's note is about our Dick & Ann Moore tuition program as well as opportunities to volunteer or partner in the transforming of lives.
To date we have had 126 from our homes and very poor families graduate from University or higher level vocational training schools! of these there were 8 from Cambodia and 26 single mothers from our unwed mothers home, The Father's home!!! As well as many student currently attending school now.
One of our current needs is in our friendship program. This is similar to being a pen pal. We only ask that a letter is written every quarter. Most importantly is that there is a commitment. The kids or students we connect you with have already experienced much too much abandonment in their lives. You will also receive a letter back from the child as well.
In addition we have a need in our "skype" or similar video program. Here again we connect you with students who are learning English. In schools they learn grammar but actually being able to speak in English is something they need help with. We have also seen that a bond is built and the students often share things they wouldn't normally share with staff. A true opportunity to share your experience and hope. Again this program is at no cost to you except for your time.
If per chance you have a desire to sponsor a student or one of the kids in our homes there is need, especially in our girls Homes in Cambodia. If interested in any of these please email me at robert@gibtk.org.
Let's all pray that these extraordinary times we are all living through end soon. May God Bless you and all that's yours in this coming days!
