Being Grateful

Being Grateful
Dear all,
My June trip ended, and I am writing this journal from home in Da Nang. When I reflected back all the things that had happened during this trip, I had a big smile on my face. Success and mistakes were both presented during this time. I was happy with the success we had, and I am still in my learning process so I am sure I, myself will be improved more after this trip. I feel grateful for everything I have experienced this trip.

The 20th year celebration of GIBTK was a great success. I am grateful for the team GIBTK has had and I have an honor to serve alongside them. They are incredible people with so many talents. I had an idea/ a vision; I painted a picture of how my idea would be like and then they all made it happened. Amazing!!! Their talents and passion made our 20th year celebration a greatly successful event. I can’t thank them enough for their trust in my leadership and their dedication to GIBTK. They are important parts of GIBTK and to GIBTK’s success.

Maybe this was the second trip in my entire career at GIBTK that I traveled to several countries in a short time. My time in Malaysia was a great time. Meetings after meetings but those meetings fueled me and grew the passion in me for the young generation. I can’t wait to see transformation in the future of the young generation in my country. And then meeting with the people who share the same heart for the underprivileged kids in South-East Asia is so amazing!

Then being in Cambodia was a blessing to me. I met with those girls who call me sister. They welcomed me with big hugs, roses (I love roses), hand-made cards and a sign with my name on it. Coming to the GIBTK’s homes where those girls stay for education, I felt like going to my second home. I felt loved. They are sweet girls who are working hard to change their future and their families’ too. I love seeing them dancing, laughing, and enjoying food together.  I feel blessed to be part of their life.

And I want to thank all of you for being part of GIBTK for the past 20 years to make it what it is today. Without you, we can’t do what we can do in South-East Asia. Thank you for supporting us to transform lives. You are GIBTK. And I am so grateful for giving me opportunity to be in this incredible journey.

Sincerely,
Tam Tong
