Do you remember the last time someone genuinely surprised you and totally caught you off guard? Well, I do!
On my last evening in DaNang, three thoughtful young men from Hal’s Home, Tai, Luan, & Huy Hoang did just that.
Huy Hoang used to live at Carmela’s Home and I remembered him from my past visits to Vietnam. Huy is now a first-year student studying automotive engineering technology at Hal’s Home. Luan, I met at Legacy 2 on my last visit in 2019. Luan is now a first-year college student studying IT and living at Hal’s Home. I had not met Tai before this trip, but his warm and enthusiastic personality immediately grabbed a hold of my heart.
Tai is a first-year college student majoring in graphic design, so he took the lead on creating the concept and design that opened to display photographs of us during our time together. My hobby is scrapbooking, so his skills impressed me and cemented that graphic design is the right major for him! Check out Tai’s thoughtful design sense!
During my trip, Luan received the wonderful news that a donor had agreed to pay tuition for his freshman year! There are numerous other young men at Carmela’s Home and Hal’s Home and many young ladies at the Lighthouse, who need donors to sponsor their education as well.
At Giving it Back to Kids, we believe education is the key to life change and having the ability to be self-sufficient after graduation. If funding the education of one of GIBTK’s university students is something close to your heart, reach out to GIBTK to learn more scholarship information.
It is amazing to see such good kids working towards their dreams of becoming teachers, architects, social workers, doctors, engineers, IT professionals, and so much more! My special thanks to these three boys for surprising me with such a thoughtful gift made with love. It never ceases to amaze me of the fine character of the GIBTK young men and women.
As I write these closing words, I see the work of GIBTK and get to witness our kids flourishing – which brings me such profound joy. If you are reading this journal, please know that YOU are a member of the GIBTK family, and your support is making a HUGE difference in the lives of our youth. Thank you so very much!
