FWM/ APU training 8-8-14

I keep thinking I should be more uncomfortable leaving a team, which arrived just a few days ago. Sure maybe it because it has been a month since I slept in my own bed and teased my dog. But still....

Free Wheelchair Mission and Azusa Pacific University put the team together. It is part of their residency experience. They're mission? To spend the next 3 weeks training and certifying our Govt. and church partners to properly assemble wheelchairs. To identify the type of chair needed to best fit the individual needs of the disabled and properly adjust and fit the chair to the person.

In addition they will be teaching some basic physical therapy which will be taught to be done at home. These young folks are seniors and all will be working in therapeutic environments. They are joined by one of their professors, Dr. Ryan! (You ought to see good Doc. / Professor's Dance moves...)

Now that I am typing about them I realize how much fun this trip is going to be for them and I will miss out of the laughs and looks of amazement on their faces. So far there was NO complaints at all. Even food was appreciated. As Michelle reminded me several times. "We are college students"

Nonetheless it is time for me to go home. It certainly is much easier to leave knowing they are left with the GIBTLK team. Our current staff / team continues to amaze me. They are teachable and eager to learn. They respond quickly to corrections and always make the needed changes/ Truly we have a championship team.

I am grateful my family was with me for much of this trip but it is time to go home and be back with them. I get to be home for a week, and then Dorothea and I are invited to Willow Creek to represent the Vietnam Churches.

Currently we are working on getting permission to help host a Global Leadership Summit in Hanoi, tied in with a American and Vietnamese veterans meetings. A lot is going on in the world of this fisherman and former pizza guy. But it is only because I said yes to a living God; It is amazing what can be done when we say yes.

Our annual Gala is scheduled for Nov 1st. once again it will be held at The Harborside Restaurant in Newport Beach. Save the date

My wife and her team extraordinaire are working hard to keep the standard of excellence they set in past years. Let her know if you can help. We also are looking for donations for the live and silent auctions. She has a donation request package made up which makes it easy to give to/ ask your favorite restaurant, hairdresser, store, friend with a vacation home or????

If you can help with the Gala please email me of Dorothea dkalatschan@yahoo.com .

Thank you to all of you, who have prayed, wrote and read.

It is all of us that are GIBTK!!!!
