Dao’s Journey to a Healthy Heart

Dao grew up in a poor family by the seaside, where her farmer parents endured yearly natural disasters that destroyed crops and property.

Born with Tetralogy of Fallot, Dao’s heart condition worsened over time, leaving her breathless, unable to eat or sleep well, and missing out on childhood joys. Doctors warned she needed immediate surgery to survive, but the cost was far beyond her family’s means.

Dao with a sad face as she lived with her heart condition

Everything seemed hopeless—until they met Giving It Back To Kids (GIBTK).

Thanks to the generosity of donors, Dao received lifesaving heart surgery in March 2010. The operation corrected her condition and gave her a second chance at life. Today, Dao is 32 years old, married, and a proud mother to a healthy 21-month-old daughter.

That sadness was replaced by a smile after her successful surgery

The crushing anxiety that once plagued Dao’s family has turned into happiness and gratitude. Seeing Dao thrive and live a fulfilled life brings them immense joy. They are endlessly thankful to GIBTK and the donors for their love, support, and the life-changing surgery that transformed Dao’s future.

Dao and her fulfilling life with her small family today

Dao’s family holds deep appreciation for the continued connection through follow-up calls and the kindness that didn’t just save her life but also restored hope and joy to their family. This act of compassion will forever remain in their hearts.
