How much do I make at GIBTK 6 9 15

Todays meet the team note is from Hieu. His position but perhaps better said "his calling" is manager of wheelchair program" Since he came on our team and took the lead never has GIBTK looked so good. He handles details and stays "on top" of all the "stuff" associated with working with so many different govt. partners. Making sure that all protocols are carried out. So proud of this young man that I feel a flood of (read tear) build up in me.

Please meet Hieu;

How much do I earn at GIBTK?

   It would take a full day to talk about what I have experienced at Giving It Back To Kids. I still remember during the interview, I told Tam that I would like to support GIBTK with the wheelchair program, although at that time I didn't know the position was open. My life have changed since 17th September 2013, my first day at Giving It Back To Kids.

At Hieu's wedding

   In the first month at GIBTK I had no progress in my job. I didn't even know what was the most important part of the Wheelchair program. A negative thinking appeared in my mind, "I am not for this job." But Robert, Tam and my team leaders encouraged and inspired me a lot. When I heard from Tam, "You are the right person for this position," I decided to learn all the aspects of the program, leadership skills, emotional health and keep trying.Mary Home, where 20 children are growing up, one of our six homes in Da Nang and two homes in Cambodia.

   Some people ask me "How much do you earn at GIBTK?" I don't hesitate to say, "What I earn is having the opportunity to contribute to an NGO which helps hundreds of children at our six homes in Vietnam and two in Cambodia, more than one and half thousand children with heart, eye, orthopedic surgeries; to help provide more than 110,000 wheelchairs, build 402 compassion houses all over Vietnam. I am part of the mission to transform lives through education, medical care, nutrition and love." When Robert asked me "How do you feel about your job?,"I answered in a second: "This is a job that we need to live with".

    It's my luck and honor to be a member of GIBTK. At GIBTK I never fight alone. I always have a team to work along side with and being willing to support each other. And as Robert said, TEAM is "Together Everyone Achieves More." Now we are trying to keep GIBTK being the leading partner of Free Wheelchair Mission among 90 countries. From 2014 to July 2015, we received and will receive over 25,000 wheelchairs! Wow, it means 25,000 lives were transformed with the gift of mobility! How exciting!

Seeing big smiles on recipients' faces is a happiness to me

    Having the chance to meet with many recipients who are in need of a wheelchair, I treasure my work and what I am doing. Whenever I meet a recipient, I suppose he/she is my relative. Then I ask myself: How could I help my brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts? What could I do to help their lives be better? By this way, I always keep my passion and dedication to everywhere I go, for everyone I meet.

   GIBTK is not only an office where I work, but also a family I have. No one believed an American president would fly from the US to Vietnam. Then he, along with all of his staff, took an 8-hour trip in a van from Da Nang to my hometown, Quang Binh, to attend my wedding. Until I showed them the photos. Until I said GIBTK is a family.

Writing this journal, I honor Dorothea. She couldn't help thinking about and loving Vietnam until she went to heaven. I saw many people called her "mom"or "aunt"and believed she had unconditional love for them.

   One of my best moments with sweet lady Dorothea

Cuc is a lady who we built a compassion house for years ago, and then helped her with her coffee shop along with a sugar cane squeezer. She has lots of love from and to Dorothea. When she knew Dorothea was in God's hands, she extended her coffee shop and named it her loved one's name.

Cuc (in pink shirt) who GIBTK helped build a compassion house and running her business. She extended her coffee shop and name it "Dorothea Kalatschan".

If you have note of encouragement for Hieu please email it and I will forward it to him
