It's been a long month this past week... I am sorry for not writing sooner but the days have been full. I have both my kids here, as well as a couple families, 6 teens and a 30 something nine year old...
Todays' writing is partially on our heart meeting and some "keen" insights from 2 of the Stewart family kids. My son came to me after the meeting and said "this meeting it seems like the decisions to fund the surgeries were easier."

The fact is for me they were for me. Honestly there is so much in our lives which we can't help or no matter what cant be prevented. Yet these families come seeking funds to pay for a life saving heart surgery. On the tail of my families recent loss I had no problem agreeing to fund the surgeries.

Especially after having 3 past recipients come and share their stories. Kids who were on if I dare say a road that led to near certain death and now alive and living! .With parents t their side smiling and relived.

"Listening in on this meeting completely shifted my perspective. It is only approximately 2,000 dollars to pay for a child to undergo a surgery that can ultimately save their life. When back in California, we have an 80,000-dollar car. It's crazy to think about how the money we used on that car could save about 40 kids' lives that need this surgery. This experience has really changed my way of viewing money and has helped me realize what can be done with it."

"Robert, the leader of Giving it Back to Kids cares a lot about helping the kids. In fact, I went to a heart meeting today, and at the end I asked Robert which kids we are going to help, and he said, "All of them." I was really proud of that answer because I realized that Giving it Back to Kids cares more about the kids than the money."

"For example, if there was a $3000 heart surgery and a $2000 heart surgery, instead of saying we are going to do the $2000 surgery instead of the $3000 surgery because $2000 surgery costs less, they're going to do both the $3000 and $2000 surgery and many more."
" In fact they have groups that build wheelchairs at people's houses! Some people they do it for haven't gone out of their houses for 10 years!"
"They also build houses for people that have very bad houses because they're very poor. All in all, Giving it Back to Kids is a great organization in my opinion, and in a few years I think it's going to get even better, and it's even hard for me to imagine that.
"And if you think about how many people Giving it Back to Kids has helped and how many people they have given an education to, it's hard to think about. They've helped so many people I can't even keep it straight, and I'm glad that so many people have been helped because right now I'm in Vietnam and I am visiting the organization and going to their houses for kids, single moms, and teenagers."
"Because of Giving it Back to Kids, Vietnam becomes a better place for kids, adults, and everybody else including tourists. And I am very proud of that, and you should be too."
